Here his New Year's Letter 2020 from which I quote with highest respect in this private and personal blog

Dearest Diamond Way students and friends worldwide,

The year 2020 has shown the complete, unlimited nature of the Karma Kagyu lineage. There is clearly no ending to it, and it always opens up wider dimensions, which are experienced as a great joy. That is the feeling from where we work.

Within the first few months of the year, we bought four new retreat places for our Diamond Way: in the heart of Texas, in the north of Israel, in central Italy, and in western Germany. The fact that we have opened such potential during the ongoing pressure from the outside, while the openness and freedom of our societies were tested and the possibilities to quickly move from one place to another became rare, already proves that the whole world is truly our place.

It means that the energies in space that are guided by wisdom come out and our people work together with them – that is the important thing, and you will see it in all our Diamond Way centers. They are growing massively. Due to the space and surplus that arises through our practices, people develop together and complement each other, which shows the totality of our united work, and HH Gyalwa Karmapa is aware of that.

The outer restrictions that came with the global pandemic were of course very unpleasant and disturbing for a lot of people. They were forced to get out into all kinds of situations, none of which they liked. Nevertheless, during the first four months of this new situation, I gave thirty-four lectures at our Europe Center, which were streamed to thousands of people from all around the world. They stayed for hours and hours and we all enjoyed that.

When Europe opened up more again during the summer months, we spent one month in Tenovice, some weeks in Graz, one month in Poland and a couple of weeks in our retreat center in Altmühle. I gave streamed lectures almost every weekend and the Buddhist refuge to some hundreds of new friends who were able to meet us in person. Back in the Europe Center we continued with our activity, while my wonderful Anne gave birth to our child Freya, who I believe will bring a great new experience and a lot of fun – and will be as beautiful as her mother.

So while the world seems frozen, we simply go on. How is this possible? Because there is no ending for this search for further development of the potential of mind. It is all around, and in essence is completely joyful. If you bring something that helps people with their lives, you will be radiant out there and will bring them your insight in ways that give them the chance to experience many-sided aspects of the world. There will be no limitations or difficulties in this activity because it’s coming from the power of our noble Karma Kagyu lineage. We should not forget that we are yogis, that we decide.

If we can manifest something as perfect, that’s the strength we should try to work for! But if we cannot, we simply wait for some more maturity and go on enjoying ourselves. We are in a new situation and we cannot play the games everybody else plays, because we don’t have the time.

Here, we have to watch out to go for quality and not so much for quantity. We want to help people, not find new holes in the ground that they can fall into again. They cannot avoid getting neurotic in today’s world, and therefore what we have to do is to protect them and show them the purity and depth of our transmission. Our strength is seeing the richness of our world and the powerful qualities in those who come to us. We simply have the most attractive behavior – we laugh more than anybody else and we trust the rightness of our motivations.

Nothing can squeeze us, nothing can make us afraid and nothing can limit our inner freedom – that’s the view and this is what our practitioners want! I don’t do anything other than any Buddha would ask me to do. I do my very best putting new possibilities on top of people’s needs, and the intelligent ones are listening. If you really want to improve yourself and our work, then please come and tell us what you wish to share.

And what does inner freedom mean? It means our ability to choose whatever we consider to be the finest and best of our minds. We open up like beautiful flowers and welcome all qualities whenever possible, which allows us to go deeper to find extra space. We are in a charming place where all the fantastic things are coming and going. Om Ah Hung.

At any moment of the day, you can stop any kind of negativity and just keep your inner thread. Don’t harm anybody, don’t waste anybody’s time – just go in, see what happens and do your very best. Because you are growing up and you have the education and the motivation, focusing on “here and now” should be your main subject. When the liberating view of those who are really aware is activated, there will be no more doubts and it will completely awaken a sleeping force. Then from there, take your time, find your space and just be that which is aware. Don’t look for all kinds of things because they don’t give you anything. The only thing that gives you lasting happiness is the timeless wisdom inside.

So my advice for next year: Be good to each other; don’t waste your time on stupid and unhealthy things. Enjoy your beautiful buddha nature, and give everyone a chance to understand the inner freedom in everyday situations!
